CHILD AND ADOLSCENT COUNSELLOR IN CHIPPERFIELD, HERTFORDSHIRE

WHAT IS COUNSELLING?

By providing a secure, non-judgemental space in which a child or teenager can explore their worries, thoughts and feelings at their own pace, it is possible to help them to gain an insight into their difficulties and develop greater understanding and coping strategies. By gaining trust with a therapist, it is possible to begin to recognise unconscious patterns of behaviour and explore how these could be changed.

MORE ABOUT ME...

I trained and qualified as a child and adolescent counsellor with Place2Be, UEL, and the University of Essex. As an 'integrative practitioner', I draw on a number of different approaches including psychodynamic (unconscious processes or learnt behaviours), attachment theory (how our earliest relationships inform our behaviour), developmental theory and systemic theory (how the groups we belong to affect our behaviours). I also use play therapy with children which is a very effective non verbal way of working therapeutically.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

SERVICES

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING SESSIONS

I offer weekly 50 minute counselling sessions in a comfortable room in Chipperfield which is designed to be welcoming for children and teenagers. The most important thing is for the child or young person to feel comfortable and secure.

REVIEW SESSION WITH PARENTS

It is often helpful to work with parents and I offer consultations and regular reviews with parents. I do this whilst respecting the confidentiality of the children and young people I work with.

TESTIMONIALS

"Thank you for everything you have done for me and the countless hours you spent listening to me. You have definitely changed my life for the better and now I can confidently go forward and start living, rather than just existing. Can't thank you enough, you don't even know the impact you have had."

"Thank you for all the help you have given Tom. He has said that it has been helpful and he certainly seems a lot happier."
